“It happened in a split second.” Frank Rypens (67) and his cycling buddies from WTC Macadammekes from Hemiksem in Antwerp are still recovering from what happened to them on Tuesday afternoon. In a group of 25 cyclists, eight cyclists suddenly fell heavily on the towpath in Gijzegem when one of them drove over a root under the road surface and lost control of the handlebars. “I am left with a broken wrist. But this could have ended much worse.”
