Antwerp City Theater to be demolished: city is looking for location for new ‘iconic’ theater complex

“Take that ugly thing down.” Antwerp mayor Bart De Wever (N-VA) once said it a few years ago: he dreams of demolishing the Stadsschouwburg – the largest theater in Flanders – and building a new large hall (elsewhere in the city?). Now the city council has also officially decided that the building will be demolished. A search is underway for “feasible locations for a modern, comfortable and iconic theater complex”.
