Antony scored the winning goal in the home game against Feyenoord in the final minutes. He then took off his shirt and received a huge round of applause from the audience.
“It was a very special moment”, Antony responds when asked about taking off the shirt. “We had just been eliminated from the Champions League. I understood the disappointment of the fans very well. To then score the winning goal in the last minutes during the Classic is very special.”
The Ajax logo was also kissed by Antony at the end of the match. The love for Ajax is great, he says. “Since my arrival at the club I have experienced a lot of love from the fans and from the club in general. I like to show that. I feel at ease in the Netherlands and especially at Ajax.”
The Brazilian cannot tell where his match shirt is now. “After the game I still had it on my arm. I have no idea who has it now, but I wish him a lot of fun with it.”
The reaction to his winning goal in the final phase did yield Antony a red card and a suspension. The 22-year-old attacker will therefore not play in the away match against FC Groningen on April 2.
