A few days before the commemoration of International Theater Day, the Teatrix streaming service, “the Netflix of Argentine theater”, announced the launch of TeleTeatrix, a new Fast channel. Without the obligation to create a user to access it for free, it will start with eight original hours a day, which will be repeated three times a day. Its programming will be structured with complete plays, interviews, behind the scenes, trailers and historical archive material, among other content. In this way, the future online channel will be the first 24-hour development, seven days a week, dedicated to theater worldwide.
In the world of audiovisual platforms, Teatrix is a unique phenomenon. Created by Mirta Romay, an expert in production, daughter of the legendary Alejandro Romay, it presents a collection with hundreds of plays available to watch at home via PC, mobile devices or SmarTV in high image and sound quality. In other words, the encounter between the wide world of audiovisuals and theatre, its most traditional antecedent. After eight years on the air, the platform is gaining new momentum in a period of consolidation and development after the explosion in users as a result of the pandemic.
The idea is to achieve a hybrid theatrical consumption model where access to the platform can coexist through subscriptions and also through the free and fast proposal, from any disposition.
In this initial stage, it is launched with a mostly Argentine line-up that combines with the Uruguayan and Mexican creations already agreed on rights. Romay plans to arrive at a performance that includes the best of Latin American theater and the Hispanic United States.
Let us remember that, in its current catalogue, there are works such as “Filosofía de vida” by Juan Villoro, with Alfredo Alcón, Rodolfo Beban and Claudia Lapacó; “A while with him” by Camila Mansilla and Julio Chávez, with performances by Chávez and Adrián Suar; “Brujas” by Santiago Moncada, with the original cast of Thelma Biral, Susana Campos, Nora Cárpena, Moria Casán, Graciela Dufau; “Aráoz and the truth” by Eduardo Sacheri, performed by Luis Brandoni and Diego Peretti.
