Another threat to Suárez: consultant dispute with Celta Vigo escalated – transfer instead of grandstand?

Professional ready to talk

Denis Suárez is one of the top performers at Celta Vigo, has not missed a game in LaLiga this season and would like to stay with the Galicians beyond 2024. But the club is opposed in the person of President Carlos Mouriño. The reason: According to the 79-year-old, the attacking midfielder is being looked after by the wrong advisor.

As long as Suárez, who was trained in Vigo as a youth, is represented by Intermedia Sport Player agency, Mouriño will not sit down with the 28-year-old to discuss an extension. The President told Spanish radio station “Cadena Ser“even that he is ready to put his right foot in the stands in the coming season if he doesn’t part with his agent. In 2019, Vigo had invested 12.9 million euros for the return of the Spaniard from FC Barcelona – the third highest fee in the club’s history.

Not wanting to be pressured, Suárez explained to “El Desmark‘ that this statement is ‘another of many threats made during the season’. Nevertheless, he is still available for talks. “I made it clear a few weeks ago. I am ready to negotiate personally, which is what I did when I came here.” He sees himself in Vigo “for many more years”.

Dispute between Celta Vigo & Suárez consultants: “Do not want to have anything to do with this agency”

The background to the dispute is a dispute between Celta Vigo and the agency mentioned. According to Mouriño, they have made it their mission to place “Celtiñas” talents with other clubs as profitably as possible. “I feel that Celta’s right to its youth system, which has taken so much effort and work to bring it forward, has been undermined.” As such, Suárez was told “that we want nothing to do with this agency and that as long as he’s connected to this agency, we don’t want anything to do with him either.” According to the reports, despite his importance for coach Eduardo Coudet’s team, the signs are pointing to farewell.

Suárez, the fourth most valuable player in the squad with a market value of €10m, extended his contract by a year early last summer to give the club more room to maneuver in terms of the squad’s salary cap. This was used to get Jeison Murillo (29). So far, Suárez has made 97 appearances (four goals/16 assists) for the tenth-placed side, more than for any other club in his career.
