Another new (Chinese) car brand in the Netherlands: BYD | Car

BYD has been active in the Netherlands for several years with, among other things, electric buses. At Schiphol Airport, they provide the transport of passengers between the terminals and the aircraft on the apron. Louwman Group is now also going to sell the electric passenger cars of the Chinese brand in the Netherlands. One of the most important models is the Han EV. This sedan is a competitor of the Tesla Model 3 and has a driving range of 600 kilometers. It sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. Earlier, a price indication of around 45,000 Euros was issued for this car. This model is now available on the home market sold over 100,000 copies† Another current model from BYD is an SUV named Tang† It has two electric motors and four-wheel drive. BYD says it develops its car battery technology in-house.

Norway is the first European country where BYD has established itself. And last year, BYD already partnered with a Dutch dealership for the sale of its vans and trucks: the Bluekens Group. Louwman Group initially wants to sell BYD passenger cars in the Netherlands online, but several dealerships will also be established there. The first will open in Amsterdam this year and potential customers will be able to take test drives there.

Eric Louwman, Louwman Group President & CEO said: “BYD is a leading manufacturer known around the world for its pioneering battery technology, which is at the heart of all of the brand’s impressive electric vehicles. We are delighted to be able to offer our customers in the Netherlands a wide and attractive range of environmentally friendly BYD models, with the assurance of superior safety, long range performance and high quality standards. Leasing companies are already showing a lot of interest in various models.”
