Another fire broke out around the turn of the year in a building on the Arthur van Schendellaan in Uithoorn. This year a preschool was nearby. Last year, the neighborhood center ‘t Buurtnest partially burned down a bit further on.
The fire broke out around 11:50 p.m. and appears to have been caused by fireworks, a spokesperson for the fire service said. The building of the Solidoe de Vuurvliegjes playgroup was severely damaged during the fire and a lot of smoke was released. The police are now investigating further.
The neighborhood experiences a lot of nuisance from fireworks every year. Last year, a community center partly went up in flames, and in the years before, emergency services were pelted with fireworks, among other things.
