The accident happened around 3:45 am. For reasons unknown, two passenger cars collided.
Emergency services arrived en masse, but despite medical assistance, the driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene of the accident.
Driver arrested
The driver of the other car, a 21-year-old man from Beverwijk, has been arrested. The police have not yet announced exactly why he was arrested.
The police are investigating how the accident could have happened.

It is the second fatal traffic accident in Beverwijk within 24 hours.
One came yesterday too 22-year-old man from Haarlem died in a collision with a truck on Kanaalweg.
