Annual inflation in Russia accelerated to 8.82%

Inflation in Russia from January 22 to 28 accelerated to 8.82% in annual terms against 8.64% a week earlier. This is stated in the review “On the current price situation”, prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development.

“Over the week, inflation slowed to 0.19% after rising by 0.22% a week earlier. In annual terms, the increase in prices as of January 28 amounted to 8.82% in annual terms,” the review says.

Food prices rose 0.31% after rising 0.21% last week. The largest increase in prices is observed for vegetables and fruits (1.14%). A slowdown in price growth is noted for butter, fats, milk and dairy products.

The slowdown in the growth of prices for non-food products (0.14% after 0.18%) had a restraining effect, and inflation slowed down in the sector of tourism and regulated services (0.12% after 0.16%).
