Annechien Steenhuizen has not been seen as a presenter of the Achuurjournaal for more than a year now, namely fourteen (!) months. “Where is she?”, the AD wants to know.
For years, Annechien Steenhuizen was a familiar face in Dutch living rooms, but at the beginning of September last year she suddenly and silently disappeared from the TV. After a few months, a NOS spokesperson announced that she was absent ‘due to family circumstances’, but there was never an update.
Tropical disease
Everyone involved remains tight-lipped and according to NOS it is unclear whether Annechien will ever return to TV at all. According to the weekly magazine Privé, she could be suffering from a tropical disease from Africa, but editor-in-chief Evert Santegoeds does not know for sure. “It’s really a mystery what’s going on with her.”
The juice channel Reality FBI announced in May that it would investigate Annechien’s absence, but nothing ever came of this. Maybe there’s a reason for that too. In any case, Evert draws a line: “We are always a bit reserved when it comes to illness. People are allowed to reveal themselves and tell what they have.”
Where is Annechien?
So we are now more than a year further. The AD now asks itself in a fashion section: “Where is Annechien Steenhuizen, excellent newsreader and fashion icon?”
According to fashion expert Eefje Oomen, Annechien was always perfectly dressed and she now misses that on TV. “What I would like to know: where is Annechien Steenhuizen, an excellent newsreader and fashion icon? I used to prefer to send her a what-are-you-wearing app every day.”
