Anne Kukkohovi answers the phone just woke up, but the model and presenter immediately have something to say about the situation in Los Angeles.

There have been riots in the area since Friday US President Donald Trump against immigration policy. Over the weekend, Trump sent 2000 National Guard soldiers to investigate unrest without the California governor Gavin Newsom request. On Monday, it was reported that the state of California intends to sue Trump’s court on the case.

Kukkohovi commented on Iltalehti’s unrest. Just over a year ago, Kukkohovi moved to Santa Monica, about 40 minutes from Downtown, California, from the neighborhood, which is now riot.

– Yes, this was to be expected. It seems that the pressure cooker around the subject is getting tougher and hardening, says Kukkohovi.

The situation is concerned in the rooster, even though he does not believe that the situation may necessarily apply to paper migrants he himself is.

– But everything you hear all the time. There have also been quite normal Green Card holders who have a family here and can’t get back, says Kukkohovi.

Green Card refers to a permanent residence permit in the United States.

Kukkohovi describes that the situation causes collective distress and sadness.

– When you don’t know how this ends. And probably no one knows, Kukkohovi says.

Kukkohovi says he has to think about security somewhat.

– Santa Monica, where I live in a slightly different city. But yes, the next time I go to Downtown, I look around a little, Kukkohovi says.

However, Kukkohovi thinks that the most important thing is not the location, but the atmosphere.

– If there is anxiety in the air, it can explode anywhere. You have to look around and be aware of what’s going on, Kukkohovi says.

– But by the way, this is such a big city. At the same time, you see unrest and people on the beach. There are so many people here and happen all the time.

Kukkohovi sees that the unrest that has now begun is just the beginning.

– At the moment, it is not very hopeful in the situation. But everyone always escalates and changes, and something new may be shaped from this, says Kukkohovi.

Kukkohovi says the situation in the area is different from a year ago.

– Someone asked if I would have gone here if I had known. Yes, I had to think for a while. That, of course, if I had known everything that was going to happen, it may be that I would have been a little time, but I would probably have done it, Kukkohovi says.

Kukkohovi does not directly demonize the United States as a country, but states that they are “good intentions” there. However, he admits that he is disappointed with the political situation.

– The political atmosphere has caused me to be really disappointed. It scares what it means for many others, Kukkohovi concludes.
