Anna Seidel runs the German record over 1000 m

Short tracker Anna Seidel set a German record over 1000 m at the World Cup in Salt Lake City.

In the run-up, the clocks stopped for the 24-year-old at 1:26.162 minutes. Seidel beat her own record from 2019 by almost three seconds and qualified for the quarterfinals. She is also in the semi-finals in the 1500m.

Last but not least, Seidel benefited from the enormous speed of her direct opponent Suzanne Schulting in her record run. The Olympic champion from the Oranje team, accustomed to success, drew Seidel with her and set a world record in the end with a time of 1:25.958.

World champion Xandra Velzeboer set a second world record for the Netherlands in 41.416 seconds over 500 m. Canada’s Kim Boutin has held the previous record for three years in 41.936 seconds.
