Ann De Winne and Marleen van der Loo replace sick Ann Van den Broeck during matinee performances in ‘Mamma Mia!’ | BV

First and foremost: Ann Van den Broeck will certainly still be seen in the musical ‘Mamma Mia!’, where she plays a leading role. “All evening performances of ‘Mamma Mia’ will continue as planned. Both in Antwerp and in Hasselt,” said Peter Mariën of Deep Bridge. During the matinee performances there will be a replacement. The role of Donna will be filled during those afternoon performances by Ann De Winne and Marleen van der Loo. Van den Broeck calmed down a bit: “It’s a tough battle, so we want to give her enough rest and not put too much strain on her,” Mariën said.

“Bad news spreads quickly, so I would like to inform you of the correct information myself,” Ann Van den Broeck said on social media on Friday. “Very recently I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In the coming period I will receive the necessary professional treatments with all the unpleasant consequences that entails. I hope, believe and like to assume that I will be able to continue my private life and my professional activities to the best of my ability in the coming months, but in the meantime I will go to battle and fight together with my supporters against this unannounced and uninvited motherfucker. I am preparing for a tough year with a positive mindset, because as Nietzsche once said: ‘Was mich nicht umbringt macht mich stärker’.”
