Esther keeps all the dogs calm with soothing words while she does her rounds. “We now have 45 and 80 on New Year’s Eve,” she says. The animals are cared for here because their owners are going on holiday. But these days it is extra busy because of the dogs that are taking shelter for New Year’s Eve.
“Donna is very scared, she is an ex-mutt,” says Esther, pointing to a dog sitting quietly and panting in her kennel. “She no longer dares to go outside at home, but that is possible here.”
Pandora was founded last year by mother and daughter. Yet she is not worried about its survival now that there is a fireworks ban. “I think the fireworks cause a lot of suffering, I support it two hundred percent,” she said. “The interests of the animals always come first.”
