Animal abuse, how to report to the Work Desk

If you witness or are aware of mistreatment, you can call or write to the local contacts, or report it through a site developed specifically for this purpose.

There are five LAV branches active throughout the country, in Trento, Verona and Bari (opened in 2022), and in Lucca and Bologna (opened in 2023). Since their opening they have collected 1,549 reports in total, which led to the rescue of 771 animals (data updated to 31 December 2024).

5 branches plus one: the first Lav garrison in Lombardy in Bergamo

A new office will be inaugurated in a few days (29 January) in Bergamo: it will be the first LAV garrison against mistreatment in Lombardy.

LAV can count on a team of qualified professionals who have been dealing with issues related to animal abuse for years: lawyers, veterinarians, ethologists can guarantee the best management of the report in all its phases.

The aim of the offices is also to further root the association in the local area, promoting awareness and information campaigns on the respect and protection of animals.

Hence Lav af’s invitationsign the petition to ask for a stricter law and effective against those who mistreat animals to the deputies of the Justice Commission of the Chamber, to all parliamentarians and to the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio.

One year after the death of the dog Aron, burned in Palermo

It passed exactly one year after the death, on 13 January 2024, of the pit bull Aron in Palermo: he had been tied with a chain to a post and set on fire from what should have been his human companion. Although his death caused quite a stir, the criminal case against its owner was dismissed “due to total mental defect”. A swipe of the towel.

According to Alessandra Ferrari, head of the Family Animals Area WORK“there is a need for more effective sanctions, which act as a real deterrent for those who still attack living beings”
