After the success in Belgrade (2-3 win at Red Star), the next match for PSV awaits three days later. Unlike other teams, trainer Peter Bosz chose not to request extra rest from the KNVB. As a result, a Brabant meeting against NAC is on the program on Saturday evening. It remains to be seen who can play for the Eindhoven team. Just like in Belgrade, some players are suffering from the flu.
On Tuesday evening, many PSV players with flu were on the field during the match against Red Star Belgrade. Considering the game, there was little to notice. PSV almost certainly secured the next round of the Champions League.
Three days after that success, the flu has not disappeared from the selection, in fact: the trainer himself is also suffering from some complaints.
“We spent a lot of time together in the hotel. Then you logically attack each other. Fortunately, it was not reflected on the field. It is then a matter of gritting your teeth and carrying on.”
“We dropped points. We weren’t used to that for a long time.”
With the victory over Red Star Belgrade, PSV seems to be climbing out of the valley again. After three lesser games, the leader of the Eredivisie showed some of its old form again. Yet that lead has shrunk to one point with Ajax. “Of course the title battle will be exciting again,” Bosz responded.
“But that is entirely up to us. We dropped points. We were not used to that for a long time. That makes it unnecessarily exciting now.”
Tomorrow, PSV wants to send a final signal to the Eredivisie and show that the reigning champion is back in form. Just like the team did earlier this competition in Breda against NAC. A week earlier they lost to Ajax, but PSV easily won 3-0 in the Rat Verlegh Stadium.
“It is very good of NAC that they are now ninth.”
NAC then chose to put full pressure on the Eindhoven team. “That could be possible again tomorrow,” Bosz expects. “If we are in good shape, we will handle it well, just like in Breda.”
He does have a lot of respect for the Breda club. “Last year they were eighth in the Kitchen Champion Division and now they are in the left row of the Eredivisie. That is very good. They do that with their own way of playing and a lot of energy. It is fun to watch. But whether “If they will do the same against us, we have to wait and see.”
