Angry buzzard scares hikers in Damme: “He wants to protect his chicks”
The cycle path runs through the fields and forests between Sijsele and Maldegem. But not far from Rostuinstraat, a buzzard has chicks in its nest and that causes some unrest. “Especially when you walk, because that’s when you go slowest. Then he thinks you will attack his nest,” says a walker.
Damme says that people should sail, sing or shout, but certainly not be afraid.
The story of an angry buzzard is not unknown in Damme. They experienced the same in 2015 and 2018, in Moerkerke.
