The violence explosion against agents on Saturday night on Kerkplein in Budel-Dorplein continues to keep the minds busy. “I can no longer call this an incident,” says manager Erik Tebak of the Surveillance dogs East Brabant team indignantly on Instagram. This team was present in Budel-Dorplein to stop an illegal carmeeting. “It’s almost business as usual.”
Tebak describes how he was shocked on Sunday morning when he was drinking a cup of coffee when he thorn the details of his team from the night. “We are attacked by dozens of people with balaclavas,” he read in the transfer. “Fireworks, glass and stones were thrown there and we were shown with laser pins. We have our colleagues with our dogs when they were attacked and stuck.”
“The goal is to show that you are sorry about everything.”
He read it again. “Based and stuck? What the f …?”
Tebak emphasizes that there should be nothing wrong with the fact that hundreds of car enthusiasts want to come together on a square. “Except if the purpose of this affecting is nothing but causing nuisance and showing that you are sorry about everything. Because why would you take fireworks, laser pens and balaclavas to a ‘pleasant get -together’? Why would you attack police cars and agents? Why would you pelt police officers with glasses and fireworks?”
To his reassurance, the manager read in the transfer that ‘everyone is whole’ of his team and that ‘it is going well’ with them. “As if it’s normal”, Tebak sighs. “But normally this behavior is not!”
“My people were there again.”
Tebak says he is proud of his people. “They were there again.” The same applies to all others who were doing their work there on Kerkplein in Budel-Dorplein. “I hope they too have stayed whole.”
A person concerned was arrested during the disturbances in Budel-Dorplein. Later in the night, another twelve cariling participants were arrested in Bree, Belgium. The Dutch police have contact with the Belgian police and examines whether there are similarities with the Velders explosion in Budel-Dorplein.
“We can’t find this normal.”
Two agents suffered hearing damage when stopping the illegal carmeeting in Budel-Dorplein. They have reported a declaration. A report was also made of the destruction of a police car.
Spokesperson Maarten Brink of the Dutch police association has seen for some time that violence against emergency services is getting harder. “We should not find this normally,” he emphasized after the Verslet explosion in Budel-Dorplein.
