Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have signed divorce papers. After an eight-year divorce process, the couple’s separation is now finally complete.

“She’s relieved that this one part is over.”

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, told People on Monday (December 30). “She and the children left all possessions they had shared with Mr. Pitt and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for her family. This is just one part of a long process that began eight years ago. To be honest, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved that this part is over.” There has been no statement from “Fight Club” actor Pitt about this yet.

TMZ reported on “new court documents” that the actress allegedly signed on Christmas Day and filed on Monday (December 30). The documents are said to show that the 49-year-old is waiving spousal and family support from Pitt. In addition, there is no agreement in the papers about the six children they share.

Jolie and Pitt were a couple for almost twelve years

Jolie and Pitt met in 2004 on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”. About ten years later they tied the knot at their shared winery, Château Miraval, which is located on the Côte d’Azur. The marriage only lasted two years until Jolie filed for divorce in the fall of 2016. The reason: Pitt had become violent towards her children and herself. An accusation that the now 61-year-old repeatedly denied and which, according to TMZ, could not later be confirmed by official investigations.

Dispute over the French winery

According to People, Jolie and Pitt were then declared legally single in 2019. The long divorce proceedings also appear to be not the only legal dispute between the two. According to TMZ, the two-time Oscar winner sued Jolie because she sold her own share of the shared winery in France without Pitt’s permission. The former Hollywood couple’s legal disputes don’t seem to be ending any time soon.
