Andrew Tate is accused of human trafficking and rape in Romania

Social influencer and former kickboxer Andrew Tate accused of rape, human trafficking and forming an organized criminal group for sexual exploitation in Romania. Also Tate’s brother Tristan and two female Romanian citizens have been charged.

The Tates were arrested in December and have been in jail or under house arrest ever since. They have been under investigation since April 2022.

Romania’s anti-terror organization DIICOT said on Tuesday that Tate and the other defendants founded a criminal group in 2021 that has committed human trafficking crimes not only in Romania, but also in the United States and Great Britain.

According to DIICOT, the victims were transported to buildings near Bucharest, where they were forced to perform pornographic acts under the threat of physical violence. Videos and pictures of the acts were later distributed on social media.

Attorneys for Tate and his brother deny all the allegations.

According to Reuters, the trial will not start immediately. According to Romanian law, the case will be sent to the Bucharest court, where the judge will have 60 days to review the documents.

A conviction for human trafficking or rape can result in a 10-year prison sentence in Romania.
