Traditions belong to the British court and are usually strictly adhered to. But when a crisis or scandal strikes, traditions are compromised.
Of course, the former Prince Andrew will not be seen at Easter Church. Now it has also been revealed that Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and their adult children Eugenie and Beatrice and their families will skip church.
Last year, all four attended the Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
According to the BBC, the decision has been made with the king’s consent. The BBC reports also that the siblings have alternative plans for Easter.
Charles, Camilla, Prince William of Wales and Princess Catherine of Wales with their children will attend the Easter service as planned.
Prince Harry and his spouse Meghan haven’t been seen in Christmas or Easter church in Britain for years, they are expected to go to Windsor this year as well.
Earlier this month, Princess Eugenie stepped down as patron of the charity Anti-Slavery International. He had been in the position for seven years.
Beatrice and Eugenie were already denied entry to the Royal Ascot galloping competition. The event is one of the highlights of the summer in British club circles.
The reason is their father Andrew’s Epstein connections and the ongoing police investigation.
Ex-Prince Andrew was arrested at the beginning of February on suspicion of abuse of office. Andrew has been in the middle of an uproar for his connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Last year, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor renounced all his royal titles.
