Alexander Zverev is currently looking for form. According to Toni Nadal, the German tennis star could rumorate. Ex-player Andrea Petkovic is still convinced that the Hamburger will celebrate the long-awaited Grand Slam title in his career.
“I’m always optimistic anyway. I think many have not yet seen him playing,” said tennis expert Andrea Petkovic at “Eurosport” about Alexander Zverev.
The ATP tour is currently being dominated by Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. “But I have often seen him play live, often commented on him and knows: he is very close. He has already defeated both. It is not the case that he has a 0-10 record against the two,” Petkovic is still convinced of Zverev’s chances.
Zverev most recently lost in Wimbledon in the first round. The world ranking in third revealed mental problems. Zverev then canceled participation in the tournament in Gstaad.
“Initial ignition” for Alexander Zverev?
Rumors recently made the round that the 28-year-old could work with Toni Nadal in the future. The Spaniard once led his nephew Rafael Nadel to the top.
“If these reports are correct, this could give an initial spark for him again to take the next step again,” Petkovic reacted to speculation.
“However, one should not forget that he was also very successful with his family. Wimbledon was the first time in a long time that he loses a Grand Slam in the 1st round.
“He was the number two in the world, now he is number three,” recalled Petkovic: “If you regularly play into this situation as Sascha does, then the chance will come. The chances have been there a few times. He couldn’t use it yet. But why shouldn’t he succeed in the future?”
At the age of 28 you are “mature. You become a person as a person and know who you are. This can help to win a Grand Slam tournament,” said the tennis expert.
