Pop star releases promotion song for “Dorfklub”

Andrea Berg is considered one of Germany’s biggest pop stars. Now the singer has reissued an old song – for a football club.
SG Sonnenhof Großaspach played in the 3rd league for six years. The club was then relegated to the fifth-class Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. But after two direct promotions, one thing is certain: the “village club” will be represented in professional football again next season.
The return to the 3rd league will now be celebrated in a special way. Because a pop star has reissued an old song for the club. Andrea Berg’s “Yes I want” is now available in the “Dorfklub Version”. The song says, among other things: “Yes, I want to travel all over Germany with the village club. Yes, I want, 3rd league like in the old days.”

Background to the whole thing: The 60-year-old has a special connection to SG Sonnenhof Großaspach. She has been married to Ulrich “Uli” Ferber since 2007. He, in turn, is a co-founder of the club. Berg and Ferber also live together in Kleinaspach and run a hotel there with Ferber’s family.
But Berg doesn’t want to enrich herself with the new version of her hit. “The proceeds from the song will be used to support SG Sonnenhof Großaspach’s youth work and selected fan projects,” the singer writes on her Instagram page.
Berg is one of Germany’s most commercially successful artists. According to Sony Music, the Krefeld native is said to have sold over 16 million records. She is also the artist with the most number one albums in Germany. One of their albums reached number one in the German charts a total of 14 times. Berg has been honored with over 100 gold and platinum awards, eight Echos, eight Golden Tuning Forks and numerous other awards in her career.
