André 3000 wants another Outkast album

Outkast fans have actually had little reason for optimism so far. The last long player from the duo around André 3000 and BigBoi, “Idlewind”, was released in 2006 – and apart from a brief live return in 2014, the group has been largely on ice since then. Now André 3000, who released his flute solo album “New Blue Sun” in November 2023, spoke about the possibility of a reunion.

In an interview with “CBS Mornings,” he was asked whether he and his colleague Big Boi had ever discussed a reunion. The musician denied this, but explained that the two were still in close contact. “But I think because he knows who I am and knows what drives me, he knows what inspires me, he knows when I’m excited about something. Do you know what i mean? So I think he never pushed the issue in that regard.”

André 3000: “I’m sure I want another Outkast album”

Then André 3000 dropped a sentence that should give fans at least a little hope: “But I’m sure I want another Outkast album.” However, he then put things into perspective a little: “Yes, in my mind – but you see, that’s the thing. That’s the human side. I wanted an Outkast album a long time ago.”

The musician continued: “Honestly, for me as a person it would be gratifying if I could release a solo rap. But not for anyone else at this point. It’s for me because I like the challenge of, ‘How could I make this part of my life interesting and put into words?’ How can I do that?

So it’s a case of keeping your fingers crossed and staying optimistic: “It’s still a challenge. So I think with the will and the intention, hopefully something will happen.”
