Winner of the javelin world championship in Eugene in July Anderson Peters was assaulted in his home country of Grenada earlier this month.

The spearman was attacked by a group of five men who mugged him and finally threw him into the sea from the back deck of the yacht.

In a testimony published on the NOW Grenada website, Peters tells how the events of the night that ended so darkly went according to him. He says he was on a boat trip together with his brother Kiddon Peters with. The evening had gone well, enjoying the cruise’s offerings almost until the end, until a member of the crew Abiola Benjamin started hurrying them out almost immediately after arriving at the shore.

Swear words soon turned into means of force, and Peters’ velik was also subjected to violence. At the time the events escalated, there were still dozens of other passengers on board.

Denies the rumours

In his message, the Grenadian thrower regrets that all kinds of nasty rumors have spread about his behavior after the incident.

– After the beating and humiliation I received, it really hurts to hear it being said and repeated in the press and social media that I started the fight. It’s not true that I attacked anyone, Peters says.

The world champion also denies that he spat or threw water on anyone. Peters also assures that he was not drunk.

– During the four-hour cruise, I took two Johny Walker drinks mixed with orange juice. It is not true that I insulted anyone’s nationality, he refers to the Trinidadian crew of the ship.

According to Peters, the abuse caused him such bad injuries that he has not been able to train and has to miss the rest of the season’s competitions. According to Peters, the cuts on the ankle and ribs may, in the worst case, affect the career in the future.

– I have had to face the fact that my life could have ended in the blink of an eye.
