The jury has made its decision: This year’s ANCHOR Award goes to the British indie rock trio Cassia, whose “euphoric melodies and danceable beats” convinced the six-member jury around Tony Visconti. The ANCHOR Award is the music prize of the Reeperbahn Festival, which is presented every year to a particularly promising newcomer.

Alongside winning band Cassia, this year’s nominees include Canada’s EKKSTACY, British lo-fi quartet Lime Garden, Germany’s Philine Sonny, Belgian shoegaze band The Haunted Youth and UK post-punk dance group VLURE.

The ANCHOR jury, which, in addition to the legendary Bowie producer Visconti, also included the German soul singer Joy Denalane and Tokio Hotel singer Bill Kaulitz, have watched all the nominees live over the past few days and have come to their verdict. After two years with reduced capacities, the houses are finally full again.

The prize is an important support for young artists. British post-punk band Yard Act won last year.
