Second winter access
BTSV signs offensive players – and old Backhaus acquaintances
January 14, 2026 – 5:21 p.mReading time: 2 minutes

The second winter signing is official: Eintracht Braunschweig is hitting the transfer market. Reinforcements are coming for the offensive again.
Eintracht Braunschweig is preparing for the second half of the season – and presented the second newcomer in the current winter transfer phase on Wednesday afternoon. As BTSV announced, Anas Bakhat is moving to Oker. The 25-year-old midfielder has a contract until the end of the season. The contract contains an option to extend. There is no fee for the transfer.
Bakhat already knows BTSV coach Heiner Backhaus well. Until last summer, like the Eintracht coach, he was under contract with third division club Alemannia Aachen. Since then, the attacking midfielder has been without a club and recently stayed fit with regional league team Sportfreunde Siegen. Since last week he had initially taken part in BTSV training as a trial player – and left a good impression.
“Anas has presented himself positively in training over the past few days. With his skills in the final third and his flexibility, he gives us another component for our offensive game,” says sports director Benjamin Kessel. “In addition, he has integrated himself directly into our team in such a short space of time, which is an important point for us in addition to his sporting abilities.”
Bakhat himself is looking forward to his new challenge. “The last few months haven’t been easy for me, so it means even more to me to be able to play football again and be part of this team,” said the 25-year-old. “The boys welcomed me really well, and I’m very grateful for that.”
For Aachen last season he contributed four goals and two assists in 22 third division games. Before his station in Aachen, he played in the youth ranks of Mainz 05 and 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
In 2019, he made the leap into the men’s division with the Palatinate team. In 2023 he turned his back on the “Red Devils” and moved to 1. FC Düren, before his stint in Aachen followed. Now we are reuniting with coach Backhaus.
Bakhat is not the first old Backhaus acquaintance that the coach has brought to Braunschweig. In the summer, ex-Aachen central defender Patrick Nkoa also followed Eintracht’s call. The defensive man earned a regular place at BTSV over the course of the first half of the season and now has nine appearances and one goal for the professionals.
On Monday, BTSV had already announced the loan of striker Faride Alidou from 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Top scorer Christian Conteh (moving to 1. FC Heidenheim) and defender Mohamed Dräger (Espérance Tunis) left the club. Eintracht starts the second half of the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday evening with the home game against 1. FC Magdeburg (kick-off: 6.30 p.m.).
