Online cinemas Kinopoisk and ivi became leaders in terms of the total number of subscribers in Russia in 2021. This conclusion was made by the international research company GfK (its headquarters is located in Germany). As part of the study, which was reported to RBC, a survey was conducted of 7,500 residents of Russian cities aged 16 to 55 years.
“Kinopoisk and ivi are far ahead of their competitors in terms of the total number of subscribers. In the fourth quarter, 14.4% and 11.2% of residents of Russian cities were subscribers of these two online cinemas, respectively,” the study says.
The company notes that these online cinemas also outperform competitors in terms of usage. “Over the past 12 months, 35% of citizens aged 16-55 have used ivi, and 34% have used Kinopoisk. In terms of usage over the past 30 days, Kinopoisk is ahead by a small margin: 27% used the online cinema, and 25% used IVI,” GfK said.
“In terms of knowledge”, together with IVI and Kinopoisk, the Okko multimedia video service entered the top three. In terms of user willingness to recommend the service in 2021, Netflix took first place.
