An ode to childhood

Amsterdam streetwear brand Daily Paper has created a collection in collaboration with Free The Youth. The two companies were inspired by childlike creativity and intuitive invention. Daily Paper briefly opened a pre-launch pop-up store in Accra, Ghana.

Abderrahmane Trabssini, design director at Daily Paper, sees imagination and the resulting games as a source of social interaction. Free The Youth founders Maps, Joey and Kelly see their own childhood memories in the collection of creating toys out of all sorts of things. “We’re bringing that creativity and hope to people through this collection,” they said in a statement Thursday.

The collection consists of two short-sleeved and one long-sleeved t-shirt, a shirt, a cap and a fanny pack. The motifs on the clothing and accessories show toys assembled from sheet metal parts, chains and tires.

Free The Youth was founded in Accra in 2013. The company spans multiple initiatives and is at the forefront of local streetwear trends in Ghana. Free The Youth’s mission is to empower Ghanaian youth and connect with art communities around the world. Daily Paper and Free The Youth have already collaborated in 2020.

The collection will be available worldwide from January 27th.
