Kati Roivas skied superbly to third place in the 70 km competition of the Ski Classics series in Marcialonga, Italy.

Roivas fought hard for third place Anikken Gjerde Alnesin with. The Norwegian chose a better track towards the end, but Roivas still managed to pass the skier and took third place.

– What the hell just happened? It looked like this is Gjerde Alnes hay, but what else! Huh huh, now there was a strong bet from Roivas, Discovery’s skiing expert Riikka Sarasoja-Lilja amazed.

Roivas, representing the Team Eksjöhus stable, thus took his fourth consecutive podium position in the Ski Classics series.

The podium finish was the first of Roivansen’s career in Marcialonga.

– An incredibly wonderful day. From week to week and race to race, you’re just amazed, Sarasoja-Lilja said.

Other Finns were also seen in the race, when, among others, Katri Lylynperä was 28th and Heli Heiskanen was the 31st

On the men’s side, a familiar name from past years competed when the 55-year-old Jari Isometsä returned to the race tracks. Isometsä crossed the finish line in 398th place. He missed the winner of the race From Runar Mathisen a good 50 minutes.

Isometsä told Iltalehti earlier this week that the Marcialonga competition was his long-term dream.

He went to the competition just to enjoy himself. The goal was to reach the finish line without slipping.

– I’ve sneezed a few times in the 50 games – that really unpleasant feeling is still in my memory, he said to IL.

Marcialonga is a very prestigious classic race that has been organized since 1971. Around 6,000 skiers took part in the race.
