A quarter of modern women suffer, often unknowingly, from anemia caused by iron deficiency. Hans Verhoef, associate professor and nutrition researcher at Wageningen University (Netherlands), is obtaining his PhD on the subject and advocates regular measurements. “If this problem were affecting men, it would have been studied a long time ago.”
