The Government of Somalia announced on Tuesday that at least ten civilians have been killed and three others injured in an attack perpetrated by the armed group Al Shabaab in the capital of the country, Somalia. For his part, the armed organization has claimed more than 70 deaths in its raid in a supposed “government headquarters” where officials would have “meeted in secret”, according to Rita Katz, director of the SITE Intelligence Group, an organization specialized in monitoring terrorist groups.

Somalia has increased offensives against Al Shabaab in recent months with the support of clans and local militias as part of a series of decisions taken by the president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who promised upon taking office to put the fight against terrorism at the center of his efforts to stabilize the African country.
