Two high -voltage lines broke off and one was damaged. As a result of the collision, the channel was closed for sailing traffic all afternoon. The Amsterdam-Rhine Canal is one of the busiest channels in the world, So the blockage had consequences for many skippers.
After the broken cables were removed from the water and Rijkswaterstaat was sure that no more cables had been damaged, the closure on the canal was specified around 4 p.m.
The high -voltage lines still have to be restored. That will happen in part today and tomorrow. On both days, network operator Tennet in the middle of the water lays a pontoon, on which technicians make the cracked cables together with a new intermediate piece, reports Rijkswaterstaat.

Tomorrow the network operator will remove the other broken guide, then one of the two defective circuits can be turned on again.
