A 23-year-old Amstelvener was arrested for the shooting at the Helsinkilaan in Nieuw-Vennep on Monday evening. The man came to the police station on his own initiative yesterday.
The shooter quickly took off after the collision, but got stuck on a bike path. He then fled on foot. The victim was seriously injured and taken to hospital. It is unknown how he is doing now.
Drug nuisance
Police are now trying to determine the motive for the shooting. Local residents told NH that a lot of drugs are being dealt in the parking lot where the shooting took place. The residents experience this as a nuisance. Landlord Ymere is now checking with the municipality whether cameras can be installed. Whether the shooting incident is (presumably) drug-related, the police do not want to say.
