Contractor Veenix has announced this to Rijkswaterstaat. Veenix wants to keep the exit closed for 64 weeks. That news causes stress among entrepreneurs with shops and catering establishments in the Stadshart, says chairman of the Association of Center Ondernemers (VCP) Marco Mulders. The association represents 140 entrepreneurs.
“It is cold on our roof, because we have already had many closures. People are already getting less and less. Veenix apparently is lagging behind and we are the victims of that.”
‘Unclear diversion routes’
Mulders, who has a clothing store himself, is initially afraid that customers from Buiten Amstelveen will no longer come, because they do not know the inner routes. Another shop owner tells NH that his customers indeed bumped into it at earlier closures. “They don’t know how to get here, because the diversion routes are very unclear.”
But the entrepreneurs also fear congestion in Amstelveen, if people know how to find the diversion routes. “It is probably all about the green of Prinstererlaan and it has been a problem for years,” Mulders experiences.
