Amon-Ra St. Brown enjoys ‘hype’ surrounding the Lions

The Detroit Lions truly spoiled their long-suffering fans at the end of the preseason. Eight wins jumped out in the last ten NFL games. This triumph was not without consequences, as Amon-Ra St. Brown confirms.

Detroit ended the last NFL season with a record of 9-8. Although that record wasn’t enough to qualify for the playoffs, the players are being hailed as heroes in Motown these days. Amon-Ra St. Brown, meanwhile, is happily basking in the glory.

“In my first year we had a record of 3-13-1 and [die Lions-Fans] were still there for us. And now the hype is crazy,” revealed the son of a German mother in an interview with “Sports Illustrated”.

The spirit of optimism can now be felt throughout the city. According to St. Brown, people react the same way in the supermarket as well as in the restaurant. “When a fan sees you, they get super excited.”

In this context, the wide receiver emphasized what distinguishes the Lions supporters from other fans. “They have great expectations but I feel like no matter what, they will always be there for us. That’s something I really appreciate as a player because there’s definitely those hang-on fans that you see with the big teams,” reported St. Brown.

NFL: Detroit Lions have been waiting for a playoff win since 1991

Indeed, Lions supporters are not fans of success. After all, her team would have to triumph much more often for that. The last leap into the playoffs, for example, was seven years ago.

At that time, Matthew Stafford, who would later win the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, was still in charge in Detroit.

In the coming season, however, the Lions could benefit from a likely weak NFC North. The Green Bay Packers are on the verge of an upheaval following the departure of Aaron Rodgers. The same goes for the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings.

With this constellation, Detroit may not only succeed in winning the division, but also in the first playoff victory since 1991. It’s about time!
