The city of Düsseldorf is to be developed into the new center of the US football league NFL in Germany. The carnival also plays a role in the strategic plans.

A corresponding declaration of intent was signed on Tuesday by representatives of the multi-billion dollar league and Düsseldorf’s Lord Mayor Stephan Keller (CDU) at the SPOBIS sports business congress in the NRW state capital.

Dusseldorf should therefore become the administrative center of the NFL in Germany. “All German fortunes of one of the largest sports leagues in the world will then be controlled from Düsseldorf,” said the league. In order to be more present in the city, the NFL will be present with a car at the Shrove Monday procession 2023, among other things.

When applying to host an NFL game in Germany, Düsseldorf lost out to Munich and Frankfurt. The league plays its first regular season game in Germany on November 13 in the Allianz Arena with the duel between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks. There will be one regular NFL game in Germany by 2025.
