Ambulances are on the road for too long in emergencies. The target of fifteen minutes is not always achieved. This happens mainly in rural areas, including in Drenthe. This is the conclusion of research by RTL News.

The arrival times are in particular in Central Drenthe, Westerveld and Coevorden often for more than fifteen minutes. Drijber is the largest outlier within the province. The ambulance is late for three -quarters of the emergencies.

The target standard states that 5 percent of the emergency rides may take longer than fifteen minutes. In the event of an emergency, there is a life -threatening situation or the risk of a permanent limitation to body or mind.

RTL Nieuws requested all ride data from the period between 2019 and 2023. For that last year it appears that almost 10 percent of the ambulances were on the road for too long. In the countryside it sometimes seems more rule than exception. In 63 villages and neighborhoods, ambulances arrive at Emergency more often than within fifteen minutes.

Zorgminister Fleur Agema (PVV) says he will look at how ambulance care can be improved in rural areas. Agema can well represent people’s concerns, she responded in response to the reporting.

However, the minister cannot promise that the arrival times will be taken everywhere. “But I’m going to see what we can do.”
