Every year Amazon hosts a bargain battle for its Prime members. Prime Day 2022 will take place on July 12th and 13th this year. The first offers are already available, but these are likely to disappoint some users.
Like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Prime Day is one of the best-known bargain days in Germany. The (online) dealers lure the favor of buyers with numerous offers. Unlike these shopping days, however, Prime Day is organized exclusively by Amazon. Before it officially starts on July 12, Prime members will already receive exclusive offers for various services. However, these have a catch.
Amazon Prime Day 2022 starts in July
The bargain hunt starts on July 12 at 00:01. Amazon will then regularly post new offers on its website until July 13 at 11:59 p.m. But in the days leading up to Prime Day 2022, Amazon is already advertising its first offers promotion page. These are mainly savings opportunities for various services and in certain categories. The in-house echo devices are also cheaper.
Advance offers available from June 21st
Amazon will start the first offers for Prime Day 2022 on June 21, and more will be added in the following days. From Tuesday, Prime members will have exclusive offers to choose from, according to the provider. However, many users will not be able to benefit from certain promotions at all. Kindle Unlimited
Kindle Unlimited is an offer specifically for users of an e-reader from Amazon. The subscription costs EUR 9.99 per month and offers unlimited access to over a million e-books, magazines and thousands of audio books. As part of Prime Day 2022, the first three months of a new membership are free for Amazon Prime customers. But there are also two free months for new customers apart from the shopping events. So all in all a bit of a meager offer.
Amazon Music Unlimited
Prime members who have not yet tried Amazon Music Unlimited can also test the music streaming service for free as part of Prime Day 2022. Four free months are available here from June 24th. If Prime customers also buy an Echo device, the free period is extended to six months.
Amazon Fashion
In the run-up to this year’s Prime Day, there are also discounts on selected fashion products, including clothing, shoes and accessories from Amazon brands such as Amazon Essentials, The Drop, Iris & Lilly and others. However, Amazon has not yet announced how high the discounts will be.
Amazon devices
Around a week before the official start of Prime Day 2022, Amazon is launching a campaign for many of its own devices on July 6th. Among other things, the Echo Dot of the 3rd and 4th generation and the Echo Show 5 (2nd generation), but also the Fire TV Cube, Blink cameras, Ring Home Security and the Tablet Fire 7 Kids Pro are cheaper . But in the past few weeks, Amazon had repeatedly offered the Echo devices in particular with a high discount.
Chance to win Prime Day 2022
As in previous years, Amazon is once again focusing on small and medium-sized companies on Prime Day 2022. They should particularly benefit from the shopping event. In order to promote sales with these providers, Amazon lures with profits. Anyone who makes a purchase from a participating company between June 21 and July 11 has the chance to win a voucher card for every euro spent. Conclusion on the advance offers
Overall, the currently known advance offers for Prime Day 2022 are a bit disappointing. The discounts on the in-house Echo and Kindle devices are not new and instead of vouchers when buying small business products, there is only a chance to win small business products. That was different in 2021.
The free months for online services don’t help either. Because unfortunately – and that’s the problem – the promotions only apply to new customers. Anyone who already uses Amazon Music or Kindle Unlimited or has used it once should look into the tube. We find that annoying. So it looks more like a lure offer for a subscription than a real benefit for Prime members. It is also striking that Amazon has not mentioned promotions for services such as Prime Gaming or Audible this year. There were also free months here last year.
Requirement for Prime Day
The special thing about Prime Day is the fact that the offers only apply to Prime members. This distinguishes the shopping days from the other promotions such as Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Amazon charges EUR 7.99 per month or EUR 69 per year for Prime membership. That may change soon, however, as there are indications of a price increase on Amazon Prime.

Anyone who does not yet have Prime access can try it out free of charge for 30 days and thus also gain access to the Prime Day offers.
