It feels like everything can be bought from the online giant Amazon. But one thing is still missing: cars. That should change in the future. The online shop is soon planning to sell cars on its website.
The “LA Auto Show” will take place in Los Angeles from November 17th to 26th. Many car companies present their latest models and innovations. Collaborations and the like will also be announced. Amazon and the South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai have now announced that they will work more closely together. You can find out the details of the deal below.
Buy Hyundai cars on Amazon
If you browse Amazon, you will quickly notice that no cars are being sold. Although you can find all sorts of car accessories, cars themselves are not on sale – until now. It won’t be your own Amazon car. Because Amazon announced on its website that the company has entered into a strategic partnership with Hyundai and will sell cars from the South Korean manufacturer in the future. José Muñoz (CEO Hyundai North America) and Marty Mallick (Amazon Vice President) announced this at the “LA Auto Show” (in the video from minute 12:00).
Accordingly, the Hyundai cars should be offered via Amazon in the second half of 2024. However, the sale of Hyundai cars will initially only be possible in the US store of the online shop. After purchasing online, you can either choose a local retailer to pick up or have it delivered.
More Amazon integrations in Hyundai car
But not only sales via Amazon are planned in the future, but also the integration of Amazon tools. Among other things, AWS (Amazon Web Services) will act as a cloud provider.
But the Alexa integration is more interesting. From 2025, the voice assistant will be integrated into new Hyundai cars and next-generation models. This should allow buyers to carry out the classic commands in the car – play music, set to-dos or even control the smart home system at home.

Other car brands are to follow
As already mentioned, Hyundai cars will initially be available via the online shop from the second half of 2024. You can choose a model and then pay for it using the payment and financing options offered. Buying a car usually includes a test drive and an on-site inspection. It is currently unclear whether this is also planned for Amazon or whether it will be canceled.
It is also said that Hyundai is only the beginning. Over the course of 2024, other companies will also be able to sell their cars via Amazon. It is conceivable that the new service will soon be offered in other countries. However, it is not yet known when exactly this will be the case.
