Amateurs learn from top players at darts tournament in Oostduinkerke

Belgian star in darts Dimitri Van den Bergh lost the semi-final in the important World Matchplay on Saturday night after a strong campaign. ‘Dancing Dimi’ has made the sport popular with the general public, together with the other Belgian world player Kim Huybrechts. During corona, curious souls bought a dartboard and now that they are trained, they venture into the wide range of tournaments. In Oostduinkerke, 144 focused participants put their best foot forward on Saturday.

Professional darts players Tony Martinez and Mario Vandenbogaerde from Zonnebeke were also present. Vandenbogaerde lived up to his favorite role and took the win. The colleagues are happy that the regular tournaments boost the darts level in our country.

Not only men walked around at the darts event in Witte Burg in Oostduinkerke. Part of the prize pool of 2000 euros goes to the women’s category, because the sport is also on the rise among women.

A second Darts Day is scheduled for August 20, and idol Dimitri Van den Bergh will be there.
