TOThe Ice Skating Arena in Milan-Cortina 2026 it wasn’t just jumps and rotations that won over the public. What shone, together with the Olympic gold and her talent, was (also) the Alysa Liu’s two-tone hair: his halo hair they transform a simple hair look into a manifesto of personal freedom.

Alysa Liu and “halo hair”. When aesthetics breaks the mold

At the Ice Skating Arena in Milan-Cortina 2026alongside the perfect curves of the jumps and rotations of the Olympic champion Alysa Liuanother detail attracted attention: his two-tone hair. THEhe figure skating star he has won gold and also redefined the concept of style in his sport.

In a rigorous sport like figure skating where athletes often sport neat buns, tight ponytails and clean lines that don’t distract from the choreography, the new “halo hair” by Alysa Liu I’m a choice that speaks of identity and personality: not just a bold aesthetic choice but a true statement of intent.

In fact, his hair characterized by light, bright bands that form rings around the top of the headthey are not just unconventional hair looks, but a truly symbolic choice.

The American skater has in fact said that from 2023 she will add a new “ring” to her hair, one metaphor of its growth path, similar to the rings of a tree that mark the seasons of life.

Halo hair: the story of her two-tone hair

The look was created by hair stylist Kelsey Miller, who showed some steps of the work on social media: first the targeted lightening, with bleaching designed to create the iconic bright “rings” in the hair, then blonde toning, calibrated to neutralize any warm shades and keep the color cold and compact.

During her stay in Italy, Alysa wanted to revive her hairstyle by relying on the hands of the Milanese salon Jenny B. Here the goal was to radd shine to the blonde and accentuate the contrast with the dark baseso as to give the effect halo even more graphic under the track lights.

For the skating final, Liu collected her hair in a high ponytail, leaving the fringe and platinum blonde central band in the foreground. The rest of the beauty look remained essential: a line of black pencil to define the look, mascara, glossed lips that illuminated the smile, with its “smile piercing” which peeked out at every celebration. On the ice, along with his technique, his identity shone above all.

A symbol of aesthetic freedom

The result is not just a trend to copy: it is the declaration of a new generation that uses beauty as a means of expressionwithout hiding.

In fact, the skater immediately made it clear to her team that she wanted to take care of the image, from the costume to the hair. Also specifying that, if she had been asked to return to her natural color, she would have preferred to give up competing. A clear stance, which breaks with the impeccable and approved tradition of figure skating.

And while the halo hair are establishing themselves as the salon look for 2026the story behind Alysa Liu’s reminds us that each color can tell a chapter of our life.
