Also 48-hour strikes metal sector in Limburg | 1Limburg

Members of the trade unions in the metal sector will stop working for two days from Thursday in the south of Limburg and South Holland.

This is reported by the trade union FNV.

The end of October
48-hour strikes have already been organized in Noord-Holland and Friesland, among others. Negotiations on a new collective labor agreement in the metal sector stalled at the end of October, after which the strikes started.

Demands too high
Trade unions have been repeatedly invited by the employers’ negotiator Federation of Employers’ Organizations for Technology (FWT) to return to the negotiating table. FNV, CNV and De Unie had previously indicated that employers in the metal sector must first improve their offer before negotiations can resume. The FWT has stated several times that it regrets the strikes. According to the employers, the demands of the unions are too high.

Over 300,000
Nearly 320,000 people work in the metal sector in the Netherlands. They work for technical installation companies, metalworking companies, insulation companies, bodywork companies and the gold and silver industry.
