10:49
Joana Haehlen (SUI)
The remaining Swiss hope for a top result is Joana Hählen, who, however, has never won a World Cup race. This fact will be reflected today, although it shows an absolutely solid ride with the usual high risk. A gap of 46 hundredths is only enough for eighth place.
10:47
Ragnhild Mowinckel (NOR)
After second place and convincing training runs, Ragnhild Mowinckel finds his way around very well on the “Mont-Lachaux” downhill slope! The Norwegian finds a very clean line again in the meanwhile section of the route and makes Priska Nufer tremble at the finish line. But then Mowinckel also makes a mistake in the final part and falls back to fifth position.
10:45
Michelle Gisin (SUI)
Michelle Gisin now has the potential for a top ten placement in all disciplines. With the help of an outstanding ski feeling, the Swiss flies over the piste again and even stays within striking distance to the front until the final slope. Only a mistake before the last flat section finally costs her the podium.
10:42
Lara Gut-Behrami (SUI)
After her failure yesterday, Super-G Olympic champion Lara Gut-Behrami now wants to do better in front of the home crowd. In the technical passage, however, the Swiss drifts into a few turns and does not choose the bravest line. As a result, she gambled away a top placement and does not seem particularly happy with twelfth place.
10:41
Christine Scheyer (AUT)
It goes on! At the moment Christine Scheyer is looking for form anyway and usually cannot attack the top positions. Now the woman from Vorarlberg has to go out on the track immediately after her teammate’s fall and avoids the last risk, which is why Scheyer only ends up in 14th place.
10:38
Short break
Breathe a sigh of relief, because Cornelia Hütter is standing again and leaving the finish area on her own two feet! The Austrian had fallen back shortly before the final jump and consequently turned sideways in the air and was no longer able to stand the landing. Upon impact at high speed, Hütter hit his head violently on the runway.
10:35
Cornelia Hütter (AUT)
No! Three podium places in the last three speed races – Cornelia Hütter is actually in top form again after difficult years. The Austrian masters all key points on the piste in a playful way and keeps her skis under tension at all times, but then she gets out of position on the last jump and hits the snow hard when landing.
10:32
Tamara Tippler (AUT)
After Ester Ledecká and the three Italians, three Austrians are now attacking the places on the podium: Tamara Tippler is a good distance away from this plan after a rather restrained drive. Long distances over the entire course throw them back to eleventh position.
10:30 a.m
Ester Ledecka (CZE)
Ester Ledecká, Olympic snowboard champion in the parallel giant slalom, celebrated her third alpine World Cup victory yesterday! Today the Czech has to change the boards after the first split and thus loses a little speed. As a result, something is right again for Ledecká, who therefore moves up to second place between Priska Nufer and Sofia Goggia.
10:28
Federica Brignone (ITA)
Is Federica Brignone doing better on the slopes than her two teammates before? She can do it! The Italian unwraps a very narrow line in the technical section of the track and thus builds up a high speed. In the end, Brignone missed a place on the podium by just six hundredths.
10:25
Nadia Delago (ITA)
After the first short break in preparation, Olympic bronze medalist Nadia Delago wants to beat Priska Nufer’s best time! However, the Italian lacks the necessary sensitivity for the optimal line in the winding section, instead she lets the skis run properly in the gliding passage. Nevertheless, no more than ninth place is possible.
10:22
Elena Curtoni (ITA)
A hat-trick follows from Italy, starting with Elena Curtoni, who feels more at home in Super-G. The great weakness of the Italian reveals itself especially on the long flat section in the lower section of the track, who loses more than four tenths at this point alone and therefore falls back to sixth position.
10:20
Kira Weidle (GER)
Now it applies to Kira Weidle! The woman from Starnberg is still suffering from the severe training fall, which is why she will of course have nothing to do with the outcome of the race. The 25-year-old’s gap grows a little at each split, but given the difficult starting position, she should definitely not blame herself.
10:17
Marie Michele Gagnon (CAN)
Yesterday, Marie-Michèle Gagnon must have been happy with eighth place. Can she now get another top ten result? It is possible! Although the Canadian can only just avoid being eliminated in the upper section of the course, she conjures up a spotless line in the snow and is rewarded with fourth place.
10:16
Sofia Goggia (ITA)
Can the six-time winner of the season fight back after her weakest performance of the winter? Yes, the Italian can be satisfied! This time, after a tactically clever run, Sofia Goggia is very close to the best time in the middle passage and only makes a mistake in the final part. Nevertheless, she crossed the finish line in second place ahead of Corinne Suter.
10:13
Jasmine Flury (SUI)
In the shadow of the flagship of the Swiss team, her teammate Jasmine Flury energetically pushes herself out of the starting gate. However, due to a messy ride, she was unable to put the two Swiss women at the top of the rankings under pressure and initially ranked fourth behind Mirjam Puchner.
10:11
Corinne Suter (SUI)
In the long-distance duel for the small crystal ball, Corinne Suter, in the position of the pursuer, now has to set a good time against Sofia Goggia! With a lot of anger in her stomach after the disappointment of the day before, the Swiss headed for a goal in the upper part too early and traded there half a second behind. Then Suter ignites the turbo and at least moves up to 27 hundredths of the best time.
10:09 a.m
Petra Vlhova (SVK)
The Slovakian starts her second attempt to snatch the lead in the overall World Cup from Mikaela Shiffrin, who is not at the start and is currently 15 points ahead. Only one mistake before the second split robs the Slovakian of a better place than third, because she acts on an equal footing with Priska Nufer on all other sections of the course.
10:06
Ramona Siebenhofer (AUT)
Ramona Siebenhofer also still has arithmetic chances of winning the discipline classification, but everything would have to fit for the 30-year-old. However, the Austrian does not seem to feel comfortable in Crans Montana and does not keep her skis on the train in many passages. The choice of line is also wrong, which is why she takes over the red lantern.
10:04
Priska Nufer (SUI)
Can Priska Nufer confirm her strong form, which achieved the best World Cup placement of her career with fourth place yesterday? Yes, the first Swiss woman can do that! Especially in the technical middle section, she beats Mirjam Puchner by a few tenths and was welcomed loudly by the home fans as the new leader at the finish.
10:01 a.m
Miriam Puchner (AUT)
The second descent in Crans Montana will be opened in bright sunshine and perfect temperatures by Mirjam Puchner, who is said to have good chances of getting on the podium. The Austrian mastered the rather tricky course without any notable mistakes and crossed the finish line after a driving time of 1:30.62 minutes.
09:50
More favourites
Corinne Suter will fight for the day’s victory as well as in the race for the small crystal ball, especially with the Italian Sofia Goggia, who also disappointed on Saturday. With two remaining downhill runs, the Swiss is still 65 points behind Goggia in the discipline ranking. In addition, the Czech Ester Ledecká has of course pushed herself into the circle of top favorites after her victory yesterday. This also includes Ragnhild Mowinckel, who, after second place and strong training performances, was always consistent and good in Crans Montana.
09:39
Several chances of victory for Switzerland
Somewhat surprisingly, the best runner from the Swiss team yesterday was Priska Nufer (start number 2), who, in fourth place, fought back almost as best as she could after not being nominated for the Olympic downhill. “Beijing was a bit disappointing and I drove here with a bit of anger in my stomach,” explained the 30-year-old after the race. Also in the front field were Michelle Gisin (18) and Joana Hählen, who today like Corinne Suter (5) and Lara Gut-Behrami (17) are again among the contenders for the podium on the home track. Furthermore, Noemie Kolly (38), Vanessa Nußbaumer (40) and Stephanie Jenal (45) complete the squad of the Swiss.
09:31
Big ÖSV team
Cornelia Hütter (car number 15) has finally returned to the top of the world after years of worrying about injuries. As third place on Saturday, the Styrian got her third World Cup podium in a row. “The season isn’t over yet and you have to keep pushing. It’s just fun to be back,” said Hütter. Mirjam Puchner (1), Ramona Siebenhofer (3) and Tamara Tippler (14) have shown once again that the Austrian Ski Association team is well positioned across the board. In addition, Christine Scheyer (16), Stephanie Venier (24), Ariane Rädler (25), Nadine Fest (27), Elisabeth Reisinger (29), Sabrina Maier (36) and Vanessa Nussbaumer (40) will be at the start and the red -white-red colors represented.
09:18
Weidel is back
After Kira Weidle (car number 9) skipped the first descent in Switzerland the day before, the 25-year-old is now back in action. In the second training session, the woman from Starnberg flew off the track at high speed after a slip and hit the safety net, tearing her neck. In the second race, the Olympic fourth-placed athlete will start as a lone fighter for the German Ski Association.
09:10
Welcome!
Hello and welcome to the Women’s Alpine World Cup in Crans Montana! For the second time this weekend, the athletes have to master the demanding “Mont-Lachaux” downhill slope. At 10 a.m. the first runner will leave the start house.
