Alpine skiing live: Cortina d’Ampezzo Super G (replacement Lake Louise) in the live ticker | 29.01.2023 10:15

James Crawford (CAN)

Eight drivers and already the third failure! James Crawford is far too late for the difficult goal that also saw Baumann and Sejersted eliminated and it knocks him out. He lands in the safety fence, but can right himself again. It turns out that today’s spot will be crucial!

10:33

Andreas Sander (GER)

The time of Paris keeps on! Andreas Sander can’t start the attack either, although he’s better at hitting the key points at the top. After 0.33 seconds, however, there is at least second place.

10:30 a.m

Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT)

Like yesterday, the first numbers have great difficulties with the course and only two riders were able to set a satisfactory time. After a short break in the race, it’s now up to Vincent Kriechmayr. He too cannot avoid the mistake at the top gate and loses time. He tries to drive through cleanly, but even with strong sectors he can’t get past Paris! 0.33 seconds missing the best time.

10:26

Mattia Cassé (ITA)

Mattia Casse finished on the podium for the first time in his career yesterday and should be fully motivated for his race today. He puts everything in, but doesn’t get far either! After the wave he slips away and lands in the safety fence. Luckily he is unharmed and can get himself back up.

10:23

Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (NOR)

There is the first failure! Adrian Smiseth Sejersted struggles at the same point as Baumann and is eliminated.

10:21

Romed Baumann (GER)

It applies to the first German. Romed Baumann had to say goodbye early on Saturday and was eliminated. And even today, unfortunately, it doesn’t take long until the first major error occurs! It slows him down a lot and just like that he still gets the goal. But the gap is more than three seconds and the rest is actually just a training run. 3.27 seconds behind, he swings disappointed in the finish area.

10:19

Blaise Giezendanner (FRA)

Blaise Giezendanner has to fight directly and early on he makes a big mistake that costs him his speed. Even after that, not much fits together and again and again he gets a lot of dust in the corners. He crosses the finish line 1.17 seconds behind. So he won’t have much to report today.

10:17

Dominik Paris (ITA)

Dominik Paris opens today’s Super G in front of his home crowd. The conditions are good and the sun is shining. The Italian is not considered a favorite and he certainly wasn’t happy with his run on Saturday. Because there were some mistakes. Is he doing better today? He didn’t get through cleanly today either and the veteran doesn’t look satisfied in the finish area. 1:25.89 minutes, Paris initially presented.

10:08

Large Swiss contingent

As usual, the Swiss have a large contingent. In addition to their team leader Marco Odermatt, the team can also count on Gino Caviezel (9), Stefan Rogentin (12) and Loïc Meillard (16). Justin Murisier (20) and Niels Hintermann (24) also got a good starting position. Gilles Roulin (39) and Alexis Monney (50) complete the Swiss team on the second day in Cortina.

DSV wants compensation

Things didn’t go according to plan for the German speed drivers. At the first Super-G they were only found in midfield. Today they should insist on making amends at the “Olympia delle Tofane”. It is already Romed Baumann’s turn with starting number 3. Andreas Sander starts with number 7 on the slopes. Josef Ferstl (23) and Simon Jocher (28) also start with a number in the top 30. Dominik Schwaiger (59) will complete the DSV squad.

09:51

Is it enough for the podium today?

The Austrians were able to get three of their athletes into the top ten yesterday and showed an enormous team density, but yesterday it wasn’t enough for the podium. Today the ÖSV starters want to start the next attempt. In particular, Vincent Kriechmayr (6th) should calculate a lot again. But Stefan Babinsky (17) and Lukas Feurstein (26) also did well on the first day of the competition. Raphael Haaser (15), Daniel Hemetsberger (18) and Marco Schwarz (21) will also hope for something. The large Austrian squad is completed by Daniel Danklmaier (33), Christoph Krenn (41), Andreas Ploier (42) and Otmar Striedinger (45).

09:43

Odermatt WINS on return

After Marco Odermatt had to miss both the second Kitzbühel downhill run and the race in Schladming due to injury, the Swiss reported back yesterday with a strong performance in the Super G. With a time of 1:25.57, Odermatt won ahead of his longtime rival Aleksander Aamodt Kilde from Norway. Third was Mattia Casse from the Italian team.
