The German team has to wait for their first medal at the Alpine Ski World Championships. Already in the fourth final the DSV starters fail against Austria and miss out on the medals.

The Germans had survived the difficult opening hurdle against Sweden, but in the quarter-finals the Austrian team was too strong. Andrea Filser lost her first duel against the young Austrian Julia Scheib and Linus Straßer couldn’t score against Dominik Raschner either. All the pressure was now on Lena Dürr, who had to avert the defeat against Franziska Gritsch. She succeeded in a hundredth thriller, but then Alexander Schmid was eliminated in the decisive duel against Stefan Brennsteiner after a mistake. So Germany was out.

The winners from Austria followed Canada, the USA and Norway to the semi-finals. So Germany cannot repeat its silver success from 2021 and remains without a medal.

So far, the German team has not been able to win a medal at the World Ski Championships. That should now change at the team event. The format: a giant slalom-style knockout race.
