Final separation

VfL Bochum and sports director Marc Lettau, who has been on leave since the end of October, have finally separated. Almost two months after being released, the bottom of the Bundesliga table and the 39-year-old terminated the contract. “It has been agreed not to disclose the terms of the contract termination,” the club announced as usual on Thursday.

Lettau only came to Union Berlin as technical director at the beginning of 2023 and was promoted to sports director six months later. In the current season, like coach Peter Zeidler, he had to start after eight competitive defeats. With his transfers in the summer, Lettau was unable to compensate for the free transfer departures of top performers such as Kevin Stöger, Patrick Osterhage (the only one who earned a transfer fee of 4.8 million euros), Keven Schlotterbeck and Takuma Asano.
