Led by Olympic champion Ricarda Funk, with the exception of Benjamin Kies (BSV Halle), all German starters have reached the semi-finals of the Canoe Slalom World Cup finals in La Seu d’Urgell, Spain.

Funk (KSV Bad Kreuznach) entered the kayak semi-finals on Friday as second fastest, while Elena Lilik, third in the World Championships, and her younger sister Emily Apel (both KS Augsburg) qualified via the second run.

The German kayak men around Stefan Hengst (KR Hamm), Noah Hegge (KS Augsburg) and Tim Bremer (KST Rhein-Ruhr) also paddled into the semifinals. In addition to Lilik, the Leipzig KC athletes Andrea Herzog, Nele Bayn and Lennard Tuchscherer as well as Timo Trummer (KV Zeitz) reached the semi-finals in the canoe.

On Saturday, the semi and final races in the men’s and women’s kayak singles will take place. The decisions in the canoe boat will be held on Sunday.
