Six projects will definitely receive 780.9 million euros from the National Groeifonds (NGF). The Council of Ministers has decided on the proposal of Minister Karremans of Economic Affairs and Minister Heinen of Finance. For example, the contribution goes to a project that speeds up and improves the development of new cancer therapies. The government also puts money in the development of photonic chips, which can be used, for example, for faster diagnoses of diseases, safe self -driving vehicles and more efficient food production.
With these investments, the government is taking an important step in supporting innovative projects that contribute to the economic growth and social progress of the Netherlands.
The projects that now receive a final contribution from the National Groeifonds come from the 2nd and 3rd round of the fund. At the Cabinet’s request, the projects tightened their plans and submitted additional information to be eligible for a definitive allocation. The National Groeifonds advisory committee has assessed the submitted proposals and issued a positive advice for six of these projects. The cabinet has taken over this advice and decided, among other things, the following award:
Oncode accelerator
Our country is one of the front runners in cancer research. But developing new cancer therapies takes a lot of time (on average 10 years) and is expensive and risky. Yet there are opportunities to speed up and improve this development process. The Oncode Accelerator program focuses on this. With the support of the National Growth Fund, dozens of organizations, universities and companies in the Netherlands are joining forces. For this they are now awarded 123 million euros definitively.
Photondelta
Photondelta focuses on the development of photonic chips, which are used for faster diagnoses of diseases, safe self -driving vehicles and more efficient food production. Thanks to photonics, devices are developed smaller, faster and more energy efficient. The Photondelta program aims to give the Netherlands a leading role in the global photonica market. Hundreds of startups, researchers and producers are now working together in this program to achieve this goal. They receive 110.8 million euros definitively from the growth funds.
Biotech Booster
Biotech Booster helps biotechnological knowledge to market faster in the Netherlands. It brings knowledge institutions and companies together to bring new knowledge ‘from Lab to Living Room’. The project will definitely receive 196.4 million euros for this.
National Growth Fund
The National Groeifonds invests in 50 large -scale projects that contribute to the sustainable earning capacity of the Netherlands. This involves an amount of € 11.2 billion.
The decision-making on these projects is final as soon as the growth budget 2026 and the relevant departmental budgets 2026 have been approved by the Second and Senate. The following phases of the projects can then start.
