At the end of February, customs has intercepted 2950 kilos of cocaine in dozens of cooled barrels with fruit juice in the port of Rotterdam. The barrels were intended for a company in Klundert, the Public Prosecution Service reports Monday. The OM thinks that company had no knowledge of the smuggling.
The cocaine in the barrels was dissolved in a liquid. The load arrived on 26 February with a seagoing ship from Brazil and was spread over three containers. The cooled barrels had to be stored at the company in Klundert. Justice does not report which company it is.
The fact that the Public Prosecution Service only reports the find in mid -June is because it says it has not been able to go outside before ‘the investigation interest’. The OM ‘cannot say’ whether suspects have been arrested.
Drugs between the fruit
It happens more often that companies ‘accidentally’ come into contact with drug trafficking. At the Albert Heijn on the Boterhoek in Best, a large batch of hard drugs was found in April between a load of bananas. According to the police, it was ‘a few kilos of hard drugs’.

That find was reminiscent of that at a fruit company in Hedel in Gelderland in 2019. At that time, 400 kilos of cocaine were found between a batch of bananas. At the time, the company reported the police and then received many threatening, such as SMS messages in which large sums of money were demanded.
